Hello all - help needed!

Post by Julz »

Hi everyone. I am new on here and I am hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction!

My hushand and I used to own a 64 panel (ex PMG) that had windows chopped into it - it wasn't the most beautiful split going, however it was ours and we loved it. Then, one day about 4 years ago in a momentary lapse of reason, Kris decided to sell it! So it went - very quickly too. And yes, we still regret it to this day.

SO - now to my current dilemma. I want another split. I am keeping a close eye on the standard classifieds and ebay - in fact I almost snagged one off ebay just this weekend however the seller reneged on the deal he made with us and sold it to someone else who came in and offered him 2k more - but anyway such is life.

What I am after is something that is driving - in reasonable knick, not too much rust but we are not scared of a bit of hard work to get it into great knick. Preferably a bus with windows and seats in the back for the kiddies, so panels are pretty much out. Kris prefers the larger indicator lenses from the later buses, however we also don't want the large rear window - we would prefer the smaller rear window. We have a budget of about $15k.

If anyone is going to know about splits for sale, it's you guys on this forum - so if anyone knows of anyone please do get in touch with us. We are located in Melbourne however I don't care if the car is in another state, we will arrange something.

Cheers all, and thanks for any help you can give us.

Give Steve Muller a ring, he has a business in Sydney called Kombi Rescue. His number is easily found in web searches, or even here on this site. (I'm not into publishing mobile numbers on the 'net)

If he has a vehicle, or a lead on one that someone else has, for sale, he will happily point you in the right direction. He is a helpful guy, and he is very handsome too

Welcome Julz, Hope you find yourselves a bus soon. Steve will definately be your best bet. (Though even he may struggle with a large indicator small back window model) Where in Melbourne are you?

I was just thinking that Stenchy... Large Fish eye indicator models only have large back windows, so you're pretty much looking at a 66/67 model?

Hmm not sure, our last one was a 64 and had the big indicator lenses but it also had the small rear window - but as I said it was a panel that some goose had hacked side windows into - so it could have been anything really.

Thanks for the lead - I have spoken to a guy in Huntingdale also - Rick from Volksrecycle - he's keeping an eye out for us. I'll get on to Steve Muller today.

Stench of Goat - I am in the North - we live in Westmeadows which is just near the airport.

We were shattered on Sunday when the bloke we made a verbal deal with reneged - SHATTERED!

Late 63 I think, but fairly sure the big window and fish eyes came together. Steve? Rick? John?
