Cheesy hello

Post by Adamhadam »

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and introduce myself ,something i should have done a while ago

Anyway was thrilled to see some pics of Cheesecake on the Dubs by the pub thread,it was a top day with so many great vw's .

Was also very interested in hearing about the history of the vehicle.
Some one mentioned the wheels which I'd like to know more about.
Have talked to Brendan who told me that she had had an engine fire with him, would love to hear more history 8)

Called it a day for the shop,it was going ok i guess. Just got a little too serious an operation. Had to not only source the stock(not alot around here) then restrore a lot of it(time consuming and expensive) as well as be in the shop set hours, bugger that!
Felt like a change anyway been doing the retro thing for heaps.

Wouldnt mind scouring the country for old Dubs as a career change..

Cheesecake

Post by kombiing »

Hi Adam,

It initially came from an old finnish bloke who had it in his garage for 20+ years he bought it from a wrecking yard in 1965 after the P.O put it on it's side that explains the p.m.g panel passenger door and the drivers side dog leg he said he paid 150 pounds for the repair and 200 pounds for the ute!, it required the least work that i have ever done on a splitty to get it on the road i had it for around two years and drove it every day then sold it to a young fella who then sold it to brendan,
the wheels pictured were put on after i had it, i had 17inch three spoke alloys running on it when i owned it

cheers juri

Bout bloody time you got on here Adam and said a few words!

Cheesecake has some good history and has been in some good hands. She's beautiful! I think "El" enjoyed sitting next to her at Dubs, you should have seen the wink and glimmer in his eye!

Juri thanks for the info, The Cheese is my Daily and she hasn't let me down as yet although she was out of action a couple of weeks back getting some rust done under the tank and the tank straps re attached, the tank was just bobbin around back there  Also mended a weeping hole in the tank. other than that she just seems happy to keep goin :)

Ash I was thinking of you this morning up on the roof cleaning out the gutters as ya do and i spotted some fresh growing mould on some shade cloth and i instantly thought of El Concreto
Anyway yeah I have been told before i take my time i still don't have a facebook thingy happening, not a big fan of computers

The 3 ute's parked together looked great on the weekend,I didnt get to say hello to the owner of the lead ute. Would like to have seen if he had another of his sun visors laying around.......
