G'day everyone, great forum.

I've been lurking for a while, not new to aircooled boxers, cars or bikes, but I've never had a Splitty.

I have had a 1500S Notchbackand a couple of 1200 Beetles and My Girl and I have had a two 1200s a 1300 a couple of Ovals a Superbug a '69 Lowlight Doubledoor and a '76 Twincab.

The bug, so to speak, has bitten again and we are looking at a pre-'60 eleven window and a similar singlecab, possibly both as our daughter and her partner are looking fairly enthusiastic. Both will need major welding and a full restoration. They have both had clocks, bumpers, steering wheels, lights, engine covers, seats and semaphores taken by 'kombi hunters' and the ute needs both floors.

So here is the big, boring question. What should we pay.
It's a hard one but I have given a fair description of the condition and we are trying to be realistic.

All input welcome, I'm going to be here for a while.

Glenn.

Hey Glen,

Welcome aboard mate! Post up some pics. It is a little hard to give you any idea on price without having a look.
Best of luck with em 8)

Hi Glen,

Glad to see you have been bitten . Sounds like you are HIVW +

Show us some pics of those busses and the lowlight DD I would love one of those!

Unless they are very dry then you will spend the same $ on rust repairs an a $2000 or $8000 bus so go for a cheapie to start with as the resto wont be any cheaper unless a more expensive one is much more complete or is very solid.

BTW where are u?

No photo's, and they are well west of here.

Reasonably dry but like anything pretty rusty.

I'll dig out some photo's of the bay windows in the future, not sure where they are at the moment.

Glenn.

Thanks for the welcome.

I didn't realise till after I had joined that there was a Split's for sale section.
I could have avoided the question, perhaps.

I realise prices vary, wildly at times, I just don't want to pick up a couple and then sell one at a loss.

Welcome Curly.

You would probably do best to buy best body you can afford if panel beating is not your forte. If you can panel beat then allow lots of time!

Cheers.
