Own a Bay but I like Splits...

Hi All, I own and love my '74 Bay but like many, would also like to own a Splitty - preferably 1961 15 window. Meanwhile, I enjoy reading anything about the VW Kombi, Transporter, Bus, Bulli, whatever you prefer to call them; so joining DSK is a no-brainer.
As a new DSK'er, I offer this small token - below are the only 2 photos I have of my Dad's Split. Me (little blonde fella with skinny legs) standing on roof, my older brother jumping off at Taronga Park Zoo circa 1965-66.
And sitting on the Roo Bar with sister and Dad's new German girlfriend, Inge. The bus is parked in front of Dad's garage in Surry Hills about 50 metres from the Dolphin Pub...

Probably broke his leg on landing..
Fast forward to 2011...
Get your legs broken for attempting to get on the roof..
How times change..

Dutchy, shows the roof is made tough with real metal. Imagine kids standing on the roof of a present day car - Ha! The tin foil would rip....
63 left hooker, yeah he landed OK. It wasn't that far - just out of frame is the top of the retaining wall he is jumping onto.
Steve, Warb, et al, thanks for the welcome...

Dutchy, I just noticed you have 'Australië' as your location; the Dutch spelling of Australia! Of course, with a username like Dutchy I should've twigged you wear klompen instead of thongs! Ha!
Dad's girlfriend was German but he was a Dutchman from Amsterdam (Mum was born in Surabaya, Nederlandse Oost Indië.)
