Silly though this question is guys, what should I expect to pay for a '58 splitty? Yeah, I know there's plenty beasts out there, all in different condition, so let's say no motor, straight, little rust at bottom of doors, with instrumentals but otherwise empty. No tail lights, but basically the rest of it there. Best guesstimates?

Sorry Frogsta, a bit small. Gotcha reading glasses on?Rust in outside body supports behind front mudguards for 30cm. rust in tapered lateral strut linking outside floor support beam to floor support beam. this beam is 30cm long. Narrow band of rust under double doors on floor. Rust bubbles in bouble doors near base.Patched hole near right tail light.

Ok Spank....thats a 1964-1967 are you sure the one you are looking at is a 58?
If so in my opinion 58's are far more worthy but is hard to judge without pics.
Realistically, if it's what you say it is and it is not going to cost heaps to get it home, go for it!.
Original paint?
Has the owner got a price in mind?
or are you making the offer?
The more imfo you give us the more we can help.
Whats the go with the one in the pics?

Which just proves that we splitty-novices don't knows nuffin about nuffin. The photo is an ebay bus. Been watching it to get an idea of pricing, (am considering buying this one instead, if the price doesn't get too silly), but ebay is a strange and unreliable guide. What do you make of this one?
58? 67? Mate, you could tell me anythingand I probably wouldn't know the difference. That's why I need to pick your brains. Soooo.......
seems I've been looking at the wrong decade. Know where I can pick up a '58? (If you did you'd be towing it home right now. Hehe)

It ended up selling for $2029. Does that seem like a lot to you guys? I still can't figure out what these beasties are worth.

That is cheap for the above van, seems dry climate not many body mods, minimal rust.
All depends how far from home they are as the transport is a money factor.
Just say for example that van is in victoria and I'm in queensland it would cost me $1500 to $2000 maybe more with no motor to get it home.
So thats nearly $4000 at my door.
If you get one cheap anywhere just get it.
Expect to pay more for 50's models......the older the pricier.

Thanks for the advice. Bloke I know assured me he knew a guy with a '58 he might sell to me, but it turned out to be a pigment of his inebriation. In other words, he was full of shit.
So...The search continues
