The new bus

We took the plunge today. Finally after much deliberation we have just plumbed for... and purchased our new addition to the family. It was a tough decision as the bus is down in SA and we have bought her blind. As your read this she is being towed up to NSW by one of the members on this very forum.

The bus is a 1962 Dormobile Kombi who has spent the past 22 years with her former owner and this afternoon ownership has been passed on to ourselves. She hada new engine fitted 14 years ago and after driving it back to its home there it stayed until today. It hasn´t moved in 14 years and the owner religiously turned the engine over by hand. It´s all there with some slight modifications but the original items have been kept and supplied in the sale.

I´ve bought a new master cylinder and back wheel masters, new soft brake lines, fuel lines and a new fuel filter. I´m just wondering in your wisdom, in hind sight. If you had your time again and your bus was to arrive tomorrow. What would be your first line of attack.

Images to follow.

Funny you should mention that ... as I had my suspicions about her age. The semaphores and no indicators made me question the age. I was just checking the Chassis number and your right it was actually manufactured May 1958 probably registered in 1962, All the original lenses are included.

i reckon your a member of the crazy 8s ,no recess on cargo door handle ,semaphores and no front indicators , it would be very unusual for any car to sit for 4 years before first sale ,it could of been regoed in 58-59 and later{pick a year } when rego ran out reregoed as a 62!
