Hi guys I'm new to the bus resto game, got me a 61 microbus that needs a heap of work!! its just a shell that needs body work and more.
I will be doing all the work my self including media blasting, powder coating, welding & rust repairs then final painting. Working a surfboard builder for 25 years I've got the tools and a little know how but always can learn more from the vw gods.
Progress pics coming and video updates too.
cheers,
Niko.

Thanks guys, its going to be a long road but I'm up for it and have never failed from a project yet. Finding a motor/gearbox should be fun too.
Just got back from the usa with my bags full of kombi parts, the customs guys didn't know what to say

Welcome Niko.
Maybe get some advice and opinion before cutting your bus to pieces.
Have seen others go down this line in the past, and they have created more work and expense than was actually necessary......and then give up on the project.
Good luck with the project.
John

Cheers guys,
John, I've done a few car restos in the past so that side of it I'm ok with. There's a heaps of rusty panels that do need replacing and I was lucky to get quite a few parts from the usa.
I used to build class 1 off road racing buggies years ago so the fabrication/ welding side I'm good with. What I will need help with is the vw side of things as I've never owned one.
My sister did have a 67 beetle that's as close as I've come.
Finding the right parts for the Irs conversion and box/motor I will need help.
Reidy, I have holiday house in rye (behind shed9) and surf heaps down that way, probably past you without knowing
