Hey all!
Having owned a couple of beetles early in my driving life, I'd always wanted another. Never in my wildest dreams did I believe I'd ever own a Split screen Kombi, but here we are.
I was lucky enough to pick up an 11 window 1958 Aus delivered Split Screen a couple of months ago and I couldn't be happier.
Pretty much all of the rust had been cut out and panels replaced where needed. In saying that, there's still a heap of work to do, it's a full restoration after all.
I also picked up a 3 rows of seats that were actually in pretty good nick considering the age. They aren't period correct as they are out of a 63 but they'll do just fine.
I also picked up an IRS box, just in case.
If I'm honest, I have no idea which direction to take with this build. I figure I'll start with getting the body perfect and take it from there. I must say, the full Red 9 front and rear suspension set up is very appealing. We'll see.
The resto starts in earnest week after next when I start on the interior. Seems someone in the past tried taking the speedo out with tin snips.
Thanks for having me, look forward to being here for a long time.
