How can I tell the age of my Panel

Hi everyone

Bought an old panel a few months ago and am only now getting ready to start fixing her up. I'd like to figure out exactly what year she was built but have no idea where to start. I can't find any sort of compliance plate only a chassis number stamped inside the engine bay.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

The chassis number is a good start, what is the number?

Its an early 1964 model, April-May maybe.

The number DV3125 is not part of the chassis number. This is a separate number used by VW Australia only. It is the 3125th Delivery Van built, (still not sure if that number was for 1964, or total in Australia).

Thanks for sorting that out for me. Maybe you would also know where I might get my hands on a workshop manual and some pics of an original 64 panel. I'm thinking I'd like it to look pretty original when done. At the moment it's just an undercoated shell.

Cheers

Nice one. We don't have brothers but they must be a fairly close relation.
Good luck.

Yep there was i think 5 or 6 splittys in that shed. There was an old PMG panel, a single cab ute, another 2 panels and maybe one other bus. The guy finds and restores but he sold me mine cause he was running out of space. Not a bad buy i think, no rust at all (except the nose), sandblasted and already treated with POR15 and undercoated. Totally straight except for 1 little dent top left rear corner.

I'll post the pics in members rides if you are interested in checking it out.
