Sunny coast split
Hello all,
I've posted here a few times but not as a splitty owner, that all changed today when my new ride turned up.
I've been looking for a while and never quite found what i was looking for until a couple of guys up here steered me towards this bus.
I had seen the bus on here but didn't consider buying it as it needs work, the guys in question told me not to be put off and get some more pics and ask some questions which i did.
Now she sits on our garage next to my other pride and joy ( 1969 Lambretta GP / DL 200 ).
A massive massive thank you to Flip flop, fellow Country Man and all round good bloke,my sincere thanks ! Frogsta, again, thank you !
I only hope you know what you started.......?
Brewmaster ......I may have led your good lady to the way of the Lambretta..but look what you rekindled...........another good man and our thanks to both you and the good Lady.
To all who I've asked questions to over the past couple of months...thank you.
Extra special thanks to Stuart who sold the bus, an honest and truthful guy, we've never met but if we ever should , the beer is on me.
I'm sure I'll be asking more questions over time so stick with me fellas !
This is my 1st VW, my Dad has a 1960 beetle that he's owned since 72/ 73, was the family ride for years when I was a kid, it's nearly finished it's 1st resto since 1960, fitting that I have '60 bus.....and yes , that is the number plate....can't believe that hadn't been snapped up !
It's only placed there to show it off by the way .
The wife is 67 model.....a very good year!
Werd up !

Thanks very much for the invite and kind words, have a bit of work to do to the bus to get it roadworthy but you never know.......kombi1976 wrote:Very nice, Ian.
Has anyone told you about Old Bar yet?
October Long Weekend......Old Bar Beach Festival near Taree.
They do a "world record attempt" to get as many Kombis there as possible.
We'd love to see you there.

!
Tis good rig for sure, better than expected, I'd sure have it.
The more rolling around the roads up here the better.
Glad to help, I enjoy others enjoying splits and you've got yourself an absolute gem to start with.
Don't stress... Relaxxxxxxssss....
This is Straylia.
Sheel be rite mate.

A little update.
The work has started and to be honest we're nearly there.
Have a nice 1641 to slot in and all being well a new gearbox this week.
All door rubbers , starter motor , engine lid hinges and mirrors are ordered and on the way.
Just a little bit of welding and putting it all back together with my trusty mate Flipflop and with any luck it may even be on the road quicker than expected.
Was hoping to have it finished by the end of September, not totally finished but more a rolling project ( interior will have to wait a while ) that can be ridden and enjoyed, looks like we'll do it !
My thanks again to those that have helped, encouraged and taken phone calls when I need help.....you know who you are.
This picture makes me smile, Flipflop, wearing gloves to keep his hand clean but look at the footwear......they don't call you Flipflop for nothing do they mate !
Best
