It's been a while since I updated - but there have been some changes.
Will paint the column and gearshift (boot to go on too) plus 3 metal bars in the roof cards, clean up the visors and just about there.

Brick red and mesh red may not be everones taste - especially on a commercial - but :P I love it 8)

My initial plan was this colour - but I got grey roof cards and door cards and seat covers - well when the seat covers arrived they had pleats like a bay which I hated - so I sent back - roof cards I got were for a van - so also no good - and door cards needed to be cut down also - so I started again with my first plan.

Painted the door cards - again- ordered roof cards again - this time from Brad - and also got kick borads from Brad, and had a set of the brick red mesh red 1/3 and 2/3 seats I was planning to use on something else that died in the you know what. Anywho....

Kick boards and roof cards from Brad at busnbug were great
Rolf Harris shoulda used these roof cards as the wobble board sound out of these bad boys is so nice and the flex means you can fit them without them breaking apart - imagine that! Well done Brad. And the correct size too.

TMI seat covers were good - not perfect though
Door cards needed a lot of modifying.

The interior paint on this is so nice, but the old girl has had a tough life - lucky it was dry.

still need to put the 3 metal bars in - paint it black and put it back.

Yeah that's better. Looks great. Works well with the white.
Need to pull that driver's seat base cover in at the sides. Did you put short wires through the holes in the sides of the frame? There's two each side.
Did a great job covering the rest.

OK exciting stuff -well for me anyway - I have got rego :D Look for me in trips with splits - the section of this site that is really what it is all about after all. 8)

This is going to be a daily driver too. School drop off Monday is going to be a laugh. Have used it to pick up stuff from Bunnings etc Still a few things to get sorted but the biggest hurdle has been cleared with the Governmet tick.

I bought the 'Filmore' plate (watch the Cars movie and look at his rego) a while back (before they were stupid $ ) when I had a green split van - old plates really set off the older car nicely.

I think I will end up with the original wheels with old white walls soon but these rims had new rubber for rego. I really like the old ratty deluxe badge too but have a rather interesting alternate i may try out.

The bottom line is that another kombi has found its way out of the scrub has hit the road again.

A kombi should have a name.
I give you "Coober".

'Tis a great thing Nick!!

The roof card divider bars make a real difference to the interior and look great.

Are you go to lower it at all or keep it stock height and on historic rego?

Very nice there, mate.
It's always nice to have a project on the road.
Have you thought about some pinstriping?
It would really set it off.
Cheers & God Bless

Always a great sense of achievement to drive off fully registered and legal. Congrats Nick. Love the wheels. Give him a 'kinda sporty' look.

Thanks for all of the feedback gentlemen.
It was a great relief to get the ute on the road - I was just about over it. Because it had had previous rego in SA it was a basic ID check. The only issue they had was that I needed to run a 20mm mig bead on a seam inside the cab - above passenger door, then brought it back an hour later and straight through   Always pays to be freindly and polite.

Sorry Warb, won't be making it to 'day of'. Have a gearbox issue and would be suffering industrial deafness when I got there. Will send you a pm re stickers.

Plan is for stock height Morts. Probably stock rims (see my avatar) , and probably back to a singleport motor too. This may depend on gearbox so may end up irs - but have that much invested into my reduction hubs that it would be admitting defeat sort of - although I do have all of the irs stuff and a narrow, lowered front beam ....

Ramzi - lets cruise to Volksfest in a few weeks. See events - meeting at Marion.
Imagine what you would do if you knew you couldn't fail.
