What about using a 67 wiper motor? 12volts and I think they were all 2 speed - though probably like rocking horse poo to get hold of.

My 66 has 6volt 2 speed wipers. It seems there were some fitted with this just before the went to 12volt in 67.
The van is now 12volt but I left the wipers and starter motor (up until a recent engine change) as 6 volt.
Obviously this shortens their lifespan but its been like this for 14years and still all ok. Though I use the wipers as little as possible to ensure the motor doesn't overheat

Do you need any other parts to fit the beetle wiper motor?

you only need a two speed switch if you want 2 speed & a beetle motor, i will do a schematic break down tomorrow & post up.
the wiper blades, arms, backing plate & knob are still the same only the
motor & switch (two speed) are different but both are hidden behind dash anyway.
ive had one in janns bus for nearly 3 years & works a dream.

I am using the original 6V with a resistor in line after a 12 V conversion. Wipers are a bit fast but that's ok.
I like the idea of using a headlight dimmer switch (the one that controls the brightness of the light in speedo) and thereby having 'infinite speed settings' by turning the knob - if that makes sense. hasven't done it yet but the switch would match too. Anyone done this?
