Here is some more primer shots
After some bodyworking was complete on the bulkhead, epoxy primer was laid on
Slowly but surely the black etch primer is disappearing which means we are slowly but surely getting closer to paint!
Although this looks top coat, it is just high build primer that was fresh off the gun before it dies back to a matt finish

Now I KNOW I have so far to go... It's worth it... just look at the photos you've posted, true hard effort does really pay off...
If no-one sees me on here for a few weeks it's because I have been trying to get some work done on mine...
Wow!

Thanks for the comments guys
Here are a couple more pics of whats been going on.
Finally tackled the door repair today after giving Jacks bus a bit of a break
The rusty section of the inner strengthener was removed and a new section was fabricated and welded in
The requried section of inner skin was cut out and then things were given a quick squirt of etch primer
As no repro sections were available the inner skin had to be formed from a flat piece of steel and slowly beaten to shape and cut and welded until it resembled an inner skin
After welding a bit more beating helped to shape it further
The outer skin was tacked in place this arvo - full welding to occur tomorrow

Here is an update on the door repair and Al's handy work in tool making
The press the folded edge on the lower repair section of the door a punch/flange tool was used - this is the flange section of the tool in unmodified form (note the stepped edge that normally presses the flange)
The top section of the flange was ground flat so the tool no longer presses a "step" in the metal
Hence when clamped on the door edge it gives a nice neat sharp folded edge without hammer/dolly marks everywhere
The door was then sanded back to bare metal and some dents pulled out in readiness for filler work

Heaps of work on the bus has happened this week.
Once these rear corners are all good, the bus is ready for some paint.
The left rear closing plate was removed to repair the rear corner and 'parcel tray' - this had some rust as well
If it was any worse I would have replaced it but it was a fairly quick and easy repair
The inner arch was also rusty (like so many other parts of Jack's bus!)
The offending section was cut out and replaced with fresh steel
After temporarily fixing the repair corner in place over the existing corner, both were cut simultaneously to ensure a tight fit
The corner was tacked in and slowly welded whilst occasional beating/shaping was required to keep things straight
After welding it was ground smooth
The Schofield rear corners aren't splitty specific (unfortunately I couldn't source autocraft or gerson corners in time)
Lots of cuts, welding and beating later and the incorrect pressing only needs a skim of filler and then it will be no longer!
The closing plate went back on today
And 'battery' tray is now in place as well
To get a matched cut I fit the rear corner over the existing panel, fix it in place with cleco's then cut through both skins - its not the only way to do it, but in certain areas it works quite well.
More rust to repair in the inner support structures on the right side
Hole for cable from battery to started has worn right through so this was repaired today as well

Went down to Al's the other day and have finalised the paint colours which are sitting in the workshop about to go on the beast
Here are the final pics of little tiny rust repairs that needed fixing.
A few sections were repaired on the inner section of gutter (top left rear corner of roof)
A small section of the outer skin also had rust which required removal
A new piece was welded in and ready for final body work
The right inner arch at the front also had rust so it needed repair as well
A replacement piece was fabricated from offcuts (didn't have a full repair piece on hand) and the offending section was cut out

Work underneath the bus is finally drawing to a close - a little more welding to do, some sanding then prime and paint
Worked on the left rear corner today beating out the dents and pulling those that were inaccessible from the inside
After all the welding was completed to the rear arch repairs, a skim of filler was applied to smooth things out
After a bit of a hiatus, some more parts have been purchased for the engine so its reassembly continues...
