Mechanical scecs are as per factory for now. Motor was rebuilt before I bought it, so It was given a tidy up. Plans for a 1500 beetle box and a straight axel conversion. The beam centre has been drilled and turned, and the rear spring plates down a spline. Good result for little $ spent for now. Eventually I would like to build a narrowed beam with adjusters.
Here is a pic of the motor before it went back in

Ok time for an update on this one. I had been toying with the idea of straight axel for a while, when a 68 Beetle came up at a bargain price.
I had already purchaced a 4.5" narrowed beam with adjusters.
So it was time to take it to slam town
I chased up a set of early type 3 drums and backing plates for the rear.
And purchased the straight axel kit and fliped spindles from Bernie at Munster Gararge.
Big thanks to Al at Das Resto Haus for his help with the assembly
Heres some pics for you...........
Cleaning the box............
Then Painted the box, and kit...............
The nose cone was changed for a new one..............
And the muffler needed some mods.............
Heres the finished product...............
