Got to spend some more time on the lid this weekend....

Had to send the wife and kids to Bali first...

Coupla hours Sunday arvo and all day today...

Built a plywood former to support the underside roof section, for when I rip it and its mate,up the guts ...

Cut the roof the full length about 100 mm off centre and did the same with the other roof...

Used my air powered panel steel stepper to put a dog-leg along the edge which mates up the other section..Lap welding where the panel is flat (for strength and ease of join adjustment) and butt welding on the curved sections...

Only got a couple of phone pics and will post them tomorrow... (Kids took the camera and EVERY i-pod lead in the house.. :( )

Struggling a bit with the mig settings too,so will post pic of how its set at the moment and see what the pros advise for panel steel welding... :D

Ready for Valla, Tony?
In fact if you do it right you could almost leave the rear dropgate open and sleep in the back under the hard top.
Bit of a coffin but then you're a bit of a vampire.

Dont need to leave tailgate open for space....Its a Single Cab not a piddly little tray D.C.

Don't plan on sleeping in the back anyway...Hopefully have a nice warm bed in a cabin...Not sure who's yet...

Pics as promised...including a rainbow chasing (a kombi resto analogy)pic I took on the way to Brents shed to collect roof#2...

Tonz, loving the work but one thing...

Doesn't this just mean you now have a really low/small panel/delivery van? ;)
