I love this Van, nothing beats a lowered panel for tough looks.
A bad day cruzin' is better than a good day at work.

Decided to try out the home made soda blaster idea and clean my carbs.

They were pretty dirty, have had a rough life in the back of the bus.

Halfway there

And the after

Also managed to slip the gearbox in. It's a KCW prostreet box with swayaway axles, prothane rear mounts, the front has been converted to the later style mount, unfortunately it's a solid metal mount plate. I've converted it to the later release bearing, I got a good deal for the box with early configuration when I bought it, no core charge!
I've also taken off the type 3 rear drums and changed to 5x130 discs, discs will be going on the front a well, coupled to a 944 master cylinder

The one hiding is the lotus, tends to stay under the cover as you can only get one surfboard in it and I like to take 2 to the beach, just in case.

Might have something here in my shed to suit that Dove Blue look if you need it?

After 2 days short of 2 years I'm about 3 jobs away from finishing the panel. 18 months was spent removing several layers of paint, most were professionally applied and that what destroyed the logo's, none of them were on the dove blue. I may get them put back on in the future, but who knows.

It went from this

To this

Finally to this

The paint is 90%n original, the bare metal patches are where the logo's were sanded back, I'm guessing as the company livery changed.

It's running porsche discs on all corners, 2110, KCR prostreet swingaxle. The tail lights are now dual filament and I've wired it for 3 brakelights rather than just the decklid and added orange indicators. 1 brake light and red indicators are legal on a 57, but people might not take that much notice and I don't fancy a commodore ploughing through the back.
Had it's first drive around the block, it's quite pokey and handles like a dream with KYB gas a justs.

Hmmmmm Yes, I was co pilot for that test drive, that was around 2 pm today and I believe I've just stopped shaking...this bus is scary quick, stops on a penny and rides like the wind.
Hats of to you mate, it scared the BeJesus out me but can't wait to have another go !
