Very tidy there, Hoves.
Did you learn a few lessons on the last build that have helped speed this one along?
What sort of timber are those slats?
Will they get an oil finish?

A few updates pic. Al and the boys are nearing the end. Should be fully painted by the end of next week, and then reassembly can start. The colours chosen are starting to look really good.

Saw this in the flesh yesterday when I dropped in to see Al and the boys.

Looking really nice. Quality work the boys are doing.

Rob just does not move from that position over tha gates ......... :D .......... I arrived he was in that stance and and when I left he was still working away in that same stance.

Thanks to Al and the boys for showing me and discussing their work.

You are in good hands with these guys.

Also great to meet Katie and little Kai.

Cheers
Brett

Al and the boys have got the tray and the inside of the gates painted. Al is hoping to have the exterior done by this weekend. The new 17" rims have been painted in a satin black, with a low profile tyre. The wheels look very tuff and cant wait to see them on the sc.

Good to finally meet you too Brett.

You are right - Robert will be glad to see the end of these gates as they have taken an extremely hideous amount of time. The fine detail work around each of the pressings takes so long it is not funny, but worth it once its done I am sure!

Getting close now, can't wait to see it in paint!

Al sent me some great pics today. A major milestone - we have paint !! I couldnt be happier and Al and the boys really have done a great job. This week will see allot of time spent colour sanding, but we are getting very close.

I purposely left the clear a little on the dry side (whereas the roof could be loaded up a little heavier) as I was super paranoid about any runs around the multitude of ribs and pressings around the gates. Its easier to colour sand a bit of peel out than it is to fix runs in any tight spots....so after buffing it should look great.

Ian, thats cool mate, I need to get word out now (just sorting out finer details). We will host an "Open Haus" day at my shop on Sunday 16 August. Will post in events section shortly.

Can't wait to see the ute on its wheels with bumpers etc after buffing is complete.

Al

Nice work
