I had the pleasure of meeting Dean and his partner, Hayley and checking out this awesome, low K Samba up close and personal. It is amazing, the patina is fantastic and the bus was amazingly complete for sitting in a paddock for 30 odd years....
These guys have done an amazing job preserving the history and originality of this Kombi and they have done it with hard work and a small budget.
As Dean said, there are many signs this Samba was left in a paddock with not many K's on the clock - original clutch and brake pedal rubbers that are hardly worn, driver's dogleg edge paint not worn (my '59 15 window dogleg edge was worn down to shiny bare metal from so many bums sliding off it over the years) and some of the things Dean mentioned above.
This makes this a very special Aussie delivered, German imported RHD 1961 Samba!! And it's in very good hands with people that have an understanding of the history and love for the vehicle and not what its current market value might be...
These guys deserve props! And how lucky is Dean to have a missus like Hayley who is out there in the shed getting her hands dirty, getting stuck in, just as much as he does...

My Dad's Kombi circa 1967 at Taronga Zoo. I'm the light weight with the skinny legs, my older brother is doing the roof jump!
