The 1959 Panel

Post by Niko2010 »

Ok now I have started, cleaned all the crap out of it, broken glass and started to remove the front armour plating. I have started to do the old oven clean on the old house paint, mmmm the sign writing looks great, just need to try and get rid of the sign writing over the older signs. it belonged to an electrician.
I'm going to keep it original at this point, just going to try and get it up and running, road worthy and drive.
I'm hoping to get it to Valla this year.
Enjoy
Regards

Ian

I wasn't, will it work and not harm the sign writing? Just elbow grease, It took me 2 hours to do that much.

Wow, coming up a treat. What brand of oven cleaner are you using? Keep going, loving the logos.
Squat, place chin on chest, tuck head and tip forward, shoulders connect with ground and back follows through, legs go over the top and feet land on the ground. That's how I roll!

forgot who mentioned it but found it here..using Easy off....with a gurney...need a good place to use it ...for the run off....it shouldnt hurt the signage..but would do a spot first....shouldnt take more than a day to strip .....ive just got to be careful...i'm in a complex and am manager

I'm using 3 different types, the Easy Off is the strongest, too strong for the signs

The Selleys Oven clean is good for over the signs, a little more care is needed here.

And the Motsenbocker Lift Off 5 for the tight spots I do with the small tooth brush.

The easy off at Bunnings is the cheapest at $2.70 a can

How good's the original paint? Looks good as new. That's a great result after all that hard yakka. Love it.

just remember the air/body metal temprature changes the strength of these products too, ie, the warmer the metal the quicker and more aggressive it takes the layers off even the layer your trying to save....
