Have been given the ok to post up some progress pics from Royce so here we go, WARNING SOME PICS MAY OFFENED he he
first few are as delivered from flatbed, and engine removal for gearbox swap for berry show. Really just to get it ready for the run to berry was a few weeks of late night action as it was pretty unsafe with no working lights bar a couple no brakes , steering that was completely shot , engine needed alot of work with one head replaced all gaskets changed carby rebuilt .
springplates were another story , the finer details of brakes will be shown in picture glory, as the king/ link pins, tie rods , shifter ahhh fuel tank replacement , clutch tube rewelding , front door top fixing and the magic discovery of bog , bog n more bog oh and rust and aluminium backed tar paper as rust repair material. I'm not doing this to cause shit I'm just getting it ready for blueslip and i know what is required to do that and if its apart it will be done safely.

rear brakes are now type 3 , the ones on it were early beetle with the wrong linings so they rubbed on the drums as they were too wide , the splines on one drum was half sheared and the wheel studs were too long causing all the springs too be wrapped around various parts and the slave cyls were 2 different sizes and leaking, there was also a spacer at the ned of the axle to take up the difference between long spline and short spline as early beetle drums are short spline and this was running a 1500 beetle box which is long spline long axle. pics once i dig out wrecked parts from the busted parts box.

the rear drums will have the linings replaced as these were fitted for berry also have new type 3 drums ready to go on once the gearbox has been rebuilt as the one in it now was the spare supplied which has crappy syncrows and had badly worn splines on one axle and fulcrum plates, these were swapped for decent ones out of the stuffed box
so yes engine n box will be out again soon which will give me a chance to fix a leak from the side of the engine i didnt pull apart , most likely push rod tube seals although it could be coming from the cyl's or case thru bolts.

just to clear a few things up
the spring plates were cut that way from a brisbane vw mod centre when they did the straight axle conversion and the wheel nuts came that way with el concreto i just swapped his wheels for the G's.
also i was told when i purchased the spare box that it was in good condition.
and i always said it had bog. had a fucking lot more when i bought it too!
i never sold this as a restored vehicle.
good to see its comming along though.

All good its just that nsw is pretty strict on pink slips and mods need to be clean so not to grab attention.
