Bought Warbs 62 panel last year and finally had some time off work to start the resto. Toowoomba as you will know had its far share of rain and floods which made the restto under a temperory carport rather interesting. Plan is to keep it rat, getting it regoed with og running gear then putting in IRS and lowering of course with larger than stock motor. I am back at work now so am uploading photos of the work done on hols on the work computer. I know, I know, scabby but free. Fair few pics, but I will try to keep them in order. This is what she looked like when I got her home.

Started stripping the kombi and found this under the roof panels. My 14 year old son asked what is this stuff inside the foil. I told him nothing and took it off him as quick as I could. Could Warb have been sitting on $1.5million of street value drugs???

Started stripping old paint with graffitti remover to get back to OG paint. Coming up a treat. Even a hint of signwriting.

Our hardest challenge was to graft in the bulkhead and the centre section under the seats that Warb gave me with the Panel. They were from an older model but after some nipping and tucking we got them to fit and they are now welded in ready for paint.

Warb gave me some taillight panels to weld in to make the split look like a 61 with twin tail lights. I have always liked the look of this model so in they went. It was also good practice for my welding as it has been a few years since I taught it as a Manual Arts teacher teaching to high school kids.

I went to the local auto paint shop where they mixed up the turkis paint as close as they could. This was sprayed on over primer of course, then sanded back with a scotchbrite pad to blend in with the OG paint. The whole kombi will be coated with ankor wax when finished.

Next was the front. I removed the lower front to find the inside panel had only surface rust in which I applied Por15 then welded the replacement in and then blended the paint again.

Don't cry Warb, only the easy bits have been done, now to attack the long panel on the passenger side, both inside and out. Wasn't looking forward to this at all. I'm glad I am doing this as a rat resto, I can dodgy a bit so it doesn't have to look perfect. I certainly won't be trying to get rid of all the dents, just the big ones and the major rust.

looks killer, glad someone who will do somethin with it ended up gettin it..

seems warb gave u a whole heap of stuff with it...

All old rubbers were removed and of course I was expecting the worse, sorry Warb, just surface rust no major rust at all, so some rust converter was used and then the new rubbers went in. Not so hard with a panel, I would hate to do it on a 23 window.
