Hi all, semi new to the forum. Have been sharing my initial good fortune and subsequent journey, albeit a slow and tedious one, on another site. Sorry don't know the etiquette of mentioning other sites and if its a Voldemort scenario, cant believe i just used a harry potter term in my welcome notes.
Anyway before you start of think of me as the next contestant on Beauty and the Geek, ill post some photos and slip quietly away until next post.

Welcome to DSK.
Thats the bus from White cliffs isn't it?
Timmy A was chasing that thing for ages. Apparently the owner lived interstate or something, and was super hard to get in contact with.
Would love to hear the story......
Here is a pic of it in its original resting place

Thanks Guy's,
Yep she's the one, i own a drilling business and lucky enough i was in the area and knew some locals. Owner lived at Mission Beach. Not bad for $900
Here is the story thus far that i posted on KC
She was originally owned by a volks dealer in Geelong Vic, he drove it from there and used it as a bedroom in a nsw opal field from the early seventies to late eighties. Taking it from the mine into town for the beginnig of a new mine the engine blew up 20ks from town, so he brought up a complete reco'd motor to replace it with, then drove it to her peppercorn tree camp where she sat ever since. Luckily all windows were complete and rubbers weren't too perished, added to the fact the country has been in drought for the last 15 years, gives a solid bus with minimum surface rust only. Was going to do a full rebuild but want to keep it as original as possible for time being. More photos to come, she is now all stripped down inside, which i will bring back to original show room look and condition...

900 BUCKS!!!!
I think I can say a collective "I hate you!" from everyone on this forum.
Welcome aboard, great score and looking forward to seeing this baby rolling again.
Just goes to show that absolute steals are out there if you're in the right place at the right time.

Can't wait to see pics of you driving it once you get it running & registered.

They have an uncanny ability of finding you.
Got the girl under cover. Some new shoes on and the interior completely stripped back. Took the two front seats into upholsterers today after a light sand blast and anti rust paint, keeping interior original so going for grey leather with white piping.
Having a few regrets, don't know how she will look with original paint and bright bumpers and wheels. I suppose i can always age them a little down the track.

Wow, incredible.
At this rate yours is going to be the cheapest back-to-the-road refresh so far.

Hey Guy's and Gal's,
Posted this on KC with not much response, any leads as to getting the Speedo and Fuel Gauge faces repainted, replace needles and new glass etc.

VDO in Newcastle refurbished my speedo.
Dion (D Train) can help you on that one as he helped me out.
I'm not sure if they do repaints and the like though.
I think John (IN2VWs) had some replacement speedo faces.
Someone Please correct me if I'm wrong.
