Thought I would add to the members ride section by completing a bit of history on my 55 SC. So here goes...Hope you like pictures
I first bought the 55 out of Emerald in Western QLD in 2010. A change of circumstances & location meant that I was forced to sell it & it went to a good home with Nathan in early 2012. Nathan then got the lads at Das Resto to make the old girl fit for roadworthy.

Fast forward to November 2012 & the SC is registered. Well done Nathan.
In July 2013 Nathan sells the SC to Darren (Von Schnitzel on here) & in late 2014 Nathan buys it back from Darren.
In January 2015 I buy the SC back from Nathan, after he relocated up Townsville way. Still with me? Anyway, time for some pics...

Whilst the old girl was in reasonable shape for a 60 year old boiler, I decided to get rid of the rest of the rust & spruce her up a bit. I intrusted this job to Barry, ex Das Resto, who had just started his own business on the Goldy. This turned out to be a great decision as he did a fantastic job & was an absolute pleasure to deal with
The brief for Barry was to cut out the remaining rust & replace with new metal whilst preserving the original paint & patina. The cab & the tray were also having issues & had embarked on a partial separation

As each layer was removed more cancer was discovered, so off went the treasure chest floor, top tray, separation panel & LHS dog leg...

This is what an original dog leg looks like after 60 years. Exterior appeared solid, but was rusting from inside out.

And the new LHS Gerson dogleg which required a fair bit of work to get the gaps right. RHS dogleg had been already replaced a few years earlier.

Wowsers!
My heart skipped a beat when I read "off to the blasters" but was happy to see it was just the underside. Super nice to see it being preserved in such a way.
