Here are some pics of the 58 Standard I just bought. It is a the panel beaters ready for some new sills and rust work. Can anyone identify the colour. It should be Mango Green as it is a late 58 bus according to The Samba but it is quite faded Australian colours are often different.

Looks mango to this untrained eye.

You are going to keep your panel beater busy there. almost as busy as I'll keep my welder when mine arrives.

What's the eta? Would love some progress pics too.

Any particular plans for it? Stock standard? Slammed? convertible?

Convertible!?! I will keep it pretty stock. The idea is to get it back on the road as quickly as possible. The panel beater reckons it will take somewhere between a month and 3 months to do the work needed and what i want is the minimum for rego- not a complete resto at this stage but any work that will be done will be done properly so when more money becomes available and I finish my 60 Standard then a proper resto will be done.. Then I will plonk a 36 horse into it and get the brakes working etc and just get it running. I will be putting progress photos on as I get them.

How good would your van be if it were straight!.
Naaa, that'd be too easy but I must say it has copped a floggin.
Berryl green was similar in colour of that era.
Got long sides from roy at the Goldie a while back.

Yep Frogsta the long side is rooted- The worst part is the inside supports which are completey stuffed and why I am after the side of an original bus and not just a skin from scofields or gerson. I imagine I will still need to replace the lower sill section on whatever I get. I thought it might be Berryl green- has anyone got some colour chips?

Here is some pics of the drivers side panel that is under repair that is going on the bus. I got the panel from Andrew Dodd. Steve Hopkins who is doing the panel work has replaced the lower sill and the lower posts which knew were rusted. The sill is from pmgbus (Andrew Edwards) More to come soon
