Suppose I had better start a thread for the sc. Its in the safe hands of Al and he has well and truely got stuck into it. Already has ball joint front end with bay dics, IRS etc, so will leave as is. Steve Muller will be putting together something close to a 2 litre engine and Al has some cool ideas for it as it will be used to cart the dirt bikes around.
Overall the ute is in good nic as it went through a resto about 10 years ago (I think). The idea is to have it matching the 11 window, so it will be 2 tone in sealing wax red, beige grey top but I may run some sprinstars on this one. All in all, very excited again.

You are not interested in adoption are you? I know a kid, ableit a tad on the mature side at 37, who is kind, hard working and honest. He happens to love VWs too. I reckon you would get along with him really well.

He cleans... he has a wife that is an awesome cook (it's a package deal)

Seriously though, can you send me some pics of the SC project for the 2009 calendar projects page? 3 pics at various stages (as acquired, stripped, prepped whatever). Shots people will recognise as a bus (no closeups of a joint somewhere that no one will know what it is) but don't have to all be of the whole bus.
Actually I can use 1.jpg, 2.jpg and 3.jpg as they are pretty good. Any other pics maybe showing it as you picked it up or something a bit different to it on a hoist?

We're currently waiting for Mick's bus to come back from the blasters - was scheduled to be back this week but the rain has prevented delivery thus far so I'd expect it will be back early next week.

In the interim, been keeping busy with a few fiddly bits and pieces...

I'm sure Mick will have some more interesting pics to upload once it is back in the shed.

what is the stuff that looks like a blister above the wheel arch and on the nose? bog?

btw looks like a good way to start a project (both blasting and a decent bus).

Yep its bog - the blaster knows it is easier for me strip it rather than him spend too much time on these areas and risk warpage. It just looks funny because it is painted in the 1K etch he uses.

There is a fair bit of panel beating ahead but upon initial inspection, doesn't look like there will be too much welding (still a bit to do of course!).
