WA - Wheatbelt and back

Post by sneak_e »

Clocked up a little over 1000kms on the weekend. Left Perth for Hyden to shoot the Off Road state round racing, then on Sunday the Kukerin Creek racing and burnout competition.

In the middle of literally nowhere I come across this dog cemetary. Having recently lost my dog I stopped to pay my respects.

Suddenly a tourist bus of Japanese folk stop to have a look too - I had to laugh as they made a formal line to have their photos taken with the splitty :)

Swung by Wave Rock - not a surfboard to be seen?

Managed to 'tread lightly' on the planet - didn't run over a single bobtail or snake. Can't say the same for the flies though, the front of the bus looked like a teenagers face by the time I got back to Perth.

Lake Grace - Population about 400

To succeed in business in Lake Grace you obviously have to diversify.

Tin Horse Highway - how's that for the coolest name!

Lake Grace is massive! Perfect for some land speed racing in summer!

The bus ran like a dream. Other than a slightly busted muffler it was a smooth trip. Scored a speeding fine coming in to Kunderdin. The race events were great (will post some pics of the events when I get back to the office). Was a whole lot more relaxing running the bigger fuel tank, especially when there's a couple of hundred kms between service stations and most close over parts of the weekend. Stopped at Wave Rock and a couple from Hamburg pulled up in a T5 and took some pics of the bus. His dad used to have splitties in Germany many years ago.
