The 64 ute
Hey folks,
Making a bit of progress on the ute, nearly ready for rego. One minor setback though, I went to drive it down the street to test the newly recoed brakes to discover there is no third gear...
So the ute now must wait until the mechanical work I'm doing to the greenbus is finished, before it gets another look in.
The paint is new - made to look 40 years old though, with an old school Speedwell logo on the side.
Anyway, the pictures will tell the story....

Looks great, I like the aged effect, you will get all the protection of new paint and the patina of the old. Maybe you have a career in art restoration in front of you. The ute would look good transporting some the old master's artwork around. On second thought it will look good doing anything or nothing.

You got it lobus,
as the ute is probably heading up north I wanted the protection of all-over solid paint but the weathered look of "pulled straight out of a barn". I matched the original faded paint and then lighter washes over that and flattened the clear. Most of the smaller dents are left as is.
From the shots you can't really tell, but it does give the effect. The logos were hand written and sanded back for age also. You could do alot more, it's great fun.
