i haven't been happy with the way the d/side rear gaurd was finished so i cut it off and had another crack.
i cut the wheel side of the corner panel and replaced about 3 inches of it, this allowed me to have enough excess metal to get a good fold onto the closing panel. Also i fabbed a new closing panel section, this let me get a sharper fold at the rear corner and made it easier to continue on the same angle as the rear guard.

Cheers Keith, it's a gas powered mig in the hands of a very unskilled (3rd day) operator.

Todays adventure included final grinding of my poor welding, skimcoat of filler, seam sealing and a bunch of sanding.
At the end of the day the garage had more sanding dust in it than a 2nd hand shaping bay

some bits ready for primer and colour....

possibly your not so unskilled you may just need to turn your gas up. should be flowin 12-15 litres/minute you will be able to hear it coming out the nozzle when you pull the trigger or get out of the wind maybe.but good work man.

I don't think that's a gas flow problem, there's no much porosity in there.. :?:

Good to see your out there having a crack

I would have said gas flow was a little low thats why the welds are coming up dirty cause the welds are not being shielded as they cool.

either that or there is some paint/other dirt inclusion

as long as the penitration is good it shouldn't be too much of a problem, it just makes a bit more work when cleaning up the welds!

Good work though, welding thin panels is tricky at the best of times, it takes practice, patience, and plenty of tacking.

scotty i used septone seam sealer. i got it through a company called austrade. they're at Nerang.
not going to be at RTTS in my bus but progress has been good. i've got a few windows in, sanded and primed all the new metal and got a bit of colour on.
