I understand they were standard in late '67..LM wrote:(sorry about the HUGE vents)
Keep the 14"s with a nice set of 165/45s and she'll go lower than with 15's
Congrats, it's a great feeling the first drive of YOUR own bus

Congrats mate, I thought that must of been your new bus when you drove past my house the other day. good one mate
The last of the aussie built splits had the euro lower vents, but these were blocked off ( must of been an imported panel). and the upper vents were the same as all the other aussie late splits, the only difference was the vents were in 2 sizes insted of 1 long vent. don't know the reson for this but I imagine it would be some thing along the line of using up parts from germany and pressing the vents into the already formed panels, as production of splits lasted into 68 here when in germany they were making bays.DOKA Dave wrote: I think you will find it is an English spec bus (Euro spec RHD) built between 64-67, so it would probably have been privately imported or specially ordered. The lower vents are factory, the upper vents have been grafted in from a 67, and inverted because I imagine whoever did it wanted to match the lower vents, which are always inverted on 64-67 Non Aussie spec models.
I could be wrong, but I am willing to bet if the paint is removed you will see some welding marks and probably a little bit of filler around the upper vent area. If you look at the positioning they are a little high, as well as being inverted. Looks like a good bus to start on though, Good find.
