Use some spray lube on the pulley shaft and wiggle it... just a little bit..

Worked 5 times for Bitchin finger...Or will that be 6 after these holidays...?

Nope....not after the baby vomit and screaming I put up with yesterday.
Then there was today.....6 C at lunchtime and -5 C including windchill with gusts up to 120kmh, the baby and missus were seriously crook and in quarantine, the 3 younger boys were nuts and Bryn, my normally perfect child, made one of the good back sliding windows on my Transporter leak cold air.
6 is an evil number - that's why Satan has 3 of them.
Step away from the lube and don't dare wiggle.... :shock: :x

OK seriously guys I need advice
I'm trying to remove my axles to properly clean the transmission, But according to the workshop manual I should be able to get to a clip retainer but have a look at the pic of mine, It has some sort of extra dome that doesnt let me get to it????

Pretty sure you have to remove the axle tube first. This will involve dis-assembly of your reduction boxes. Then you will be left with just your axles, like in the pics of the workshop manual.

Someone will chime in if I am wrong.

I think your right there, looking at it again I can see that just the axle is in the pic.
Well it looks like fun removing the reduction gears, and more tools by the looks :cry:

Joe,

What are your plans for running gear. Are you going to retain the stock setup with reduction boxes or opt for an IRS conversion/straight axles and lowering down the track. Pulling the reduction boxes apart is going to be a big job, you'll probably need new bearings and seals and the welsh plug. The bearings you'll need are C3 rated and aren't that cheap.

If your planning to keep it stock, I'd put it all back together, put it in the bus and put and engine in, put your front beam in, get some brakes working and take it for a drive around the block first. Last thing you want to do is clean it all up, rebuild the reduction boxes and paint it and when its all in find out you have a bad syncro on second, jumping out of top gear or no reverse, which are all common gearbox problems on a split.

Sounds like a plan, I was intending to keep it all stock for now to save money and later add bits n pieces.
I think I'll just give it a good clean as much as I can and do as suggested. I take it if the gearbox is kaput then it would be just as cheap to get an upgrade?

Alternative is to put a wanted ad up on here. Lots of people have pulled out stock reduction box gearboxes to go IRS. As long as you can get one that was known to be working before it was pulled you'd be quids in.

You may even get the better 64-67 gearbox which has the bigger reductions and a better top end.
