Hey Joe,
I have the same sand blaster and when my tip had its day i found a good idea on the net and it goes like this get an old spark plug and remove the electrode from the center which then leaves a hole for the sand to pass through and as the end of the plug is ceramic it seems to last forever. I also used sand from the local sand and gravel which also worked good. I did a set of rims and it took about 20 mins a wheel.
Also if you are going to do much blasting please get a mask that lets nothing through for ( your health ) I used a twin canister with a complete face cover.

I agree with the mask, the one I use is tight but still crap gets through :x

On that note I need some guidance yet again.
The shock absorber bolt that early in the project I thought had snapped off is actually a little more complicated.
After I cleaned the beam I noticed that there was no bolt at all, I assumed I can just buy one and bolt it in, Wolfsburg didnt have a stud and they said I should be able to use a bolt that I bought. But there doesnt seem to be a thread :?:
If I insert the bolt into the hole it seems that the bolt will be too long for the shocker
ANY suggestions guys?

Just put a nut on the bolt. I have seen this on 6 volt beetles when the thread has stripped out of the beam, the holes are drilled out and a nut and bolt fitted, you could possibly weld a nut to the back of the shock tower so you don't need to get a spanner in behind it when tightening it.

hey joe the gearbox is wrapped with glad wrap and is on a pallet ,i put on a spare starter motor and some vw tools its at Highlands Glass BOWRAL branch, Willow road Bowral, see George in the framing for pickup

Joe/Paul, any chance of a number for the street address? Might be Alby Mangels in the courier truck, might be MacGyver or it may even be Apu from the Kwikemart. A complete street address will only make life easier :idea:

I believe that all early VWs had the regulator bolted to the outside of the generator. Not sure about other brands though. Not an expert of electrics. :( :( :(

6 volt generators have the regulator bolted to the outside of its casing, 12 volt generators have a external regulator usually bolted on the rhs of the engine bay. The 12 volt generator is about 100mm in diameter, the 6 volt probably about 60 or 70mm.

Nice one Joe, you're getting there mate and we are all enjoying the ride pal

So hopefully if you stay on track you will have this thing driving into Day of The VW

You can get your other two tyres done up into white walls to match also at a small expense, look the guys who do it up on the web
