Not the best photo but this is it. Is there such a thing as a shot gun smaller than a 12 gauge? cause it kind of looks like a mini solid.
And with the bus, had a spare 20 mins this arvo so removed the Lh head light bucket which will give me good access to repair the holes in the nose. I'll do a bit more over the weekend.

Spent some more time on the ute today. Got the holes in the nose repaired as well as the one in the chassis down near the horn mount, also got the cabin heater pipe back in and removed the rhf section of the ute bed cause it was a bit cheesy, strangely the rest of it is fine. Anyway here are some pics.
The damaged chassis section.
New plate.
All fixed.
Heater tube in.
And the nose holes fixed. just under some primer for now.

Been spending a few hours here and there on the ute in the last few weeks so thought i should get some pics up.
Firstly i had cut this section out (this is it after I have welded a new piece in) to get rid of three bullet holes that were close only to find that the rail behind it was pretty rusted plus the captive nuts for the gate hinges were stripped out. I decided to open up the box section rail and see what could be done.
I removed the rusted part if the rail and took a bit of it to a local metal shop to have a new section made up, while that was being done i made some captive nuts out of 2mm plate cut into 20 x 20 squares with a hole drilled in the middle and a nut welded on. I then made some shallow top hat brackets to hold the nuts in place but still give them the movement they need to give the gates some adjustment.
Once I got the section back from the metal shop I weld it in then measured out the hole spacings for the hinges, drilled the holes and then welded the top hat brackets over the nuts. I test fitted a gate and everything worked well so i painted the inside of the rail then cut a section of flat plate to weld it all shut again. sweet job done
So that brings us to todays effort...
I am waiting on a few bits so i cant weld in the rh sills yet so today I decided to get it off the stands and turn it around in the shed so I could make a start on the left side.
Out of the shed..
This is what I had to start with on the LHS
And a couple of hours later its pretty much ready to start welding new metal in
