Hey Ian- looking sweet dude, real nice!

Can you tell me what handbrake cables you used? About to buy some for my bus and not fitted up IRS on a real early bus before

Thanks
Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks mate, kind words.

As for handbrake cables I have used the original cables.

All you do is reverse the pivot point under the handbrake lever and rotate it 180 deg. I've opened out the slot to capture the nut ( that way you can only use a single nut unlike the OG set up that uses a double locking nut ) but what I have done is put the other nut on the other side of the pivot.

Does that make sense ? happy to take a picture but it gives you the right length cable and no messing about. Big thanks to Steve Muller for that.

Flip flop has just made a mercy dash with the wheels so it's back on all 4's and I can now move it about and get to the front end easier. Big thanks to Flip Flop ( again )

Poor pictures from my phone but look at the rake, front to rear. 2nd pic will be about the ride height I'm after...

Had a few hours today so out came the Bentley manual.

Never tackled this before but thought I'd have a go at it.

Took me about 3 1/2 hours on my own, few nerves letting it down onto the axle stands when it came out but all good.

So, next job, get back underneath and POR 15 the front end.

Small steps but all in the right direction..

The hammer ? It's called Black dog, had it since I was a boy, named after the finest song by Led Zeppelin.

Tonz,

Will be used on this one I reckon, can't see me doing another project any time.

You still want those industrial tyres ? H is doing a run soon and I guess they could go with him ??

When Glen (baykruzer) mentioned 'nice kit in the corner', I assumed he was talking about the Red 9 gear not the hammer... or is that obvious and I missed the joke! Either way, both are 'nice kit'.....

Why thank you Sir !

Only had a couple of hours today so got underneath and removed all the old front brake pipes, master cylinder etc and started prepping for POR 15.

I was covered in Patina when I came out from beneath the Yoot !

Looking fantastic Ian,

Love the sidewinder exhaust, beautifully tucked away, unobtrusive and stylish.Where can these exhaust systems be purchased from,Ian?

Cheers,

Pete,

Mine was bought as part of engine package, I chose the sidewinder for the reasons you mentioned in your post., also Flip flop up here has one on his 57 and I've been lucky enough to drive and ride a fair bit in it and just love the sound.

I think you can get them from George at Classic Vee dub, not sure where mine came from but I can tell you i had no problems fitting it as others have. Worth doing a search on here as I do know that others have had to cut and weld the models they have, I think you can get them from the USA and they are a better fit so maybe mine came from the States ?

Todays progress report...

Only had a couple of hours spare today so decided to remove the steering wheel, steering box and tackle the dreaded drag link.

A little bit of heat and gentle persuasion from a mallet and off it came, drag link required more heat and some special treatment from Black dog !

Also a huge thank you to my mate down in Coffs who kindly sent a package North that contained these little gems ! What a lucky bloke I am.

Huge thanks again D.
