the 60 split update 25/7/06

Post by splitdawhiska »

just redoing it as the last one now comes as a guest

hi ya got the bus last week
it is my 60 11 window split
have cut out short seal and replaced and also chuched on the white walls as it had big fat sunraisers(ugly star things)
have also put in a 1600 sp as the 1300 was a shiter
just going to cut some rust out and get it looking neat
putting u.s spec head lights in and removing the trailer indercators
fixing the roof as it has a small rust hole as it was fillwith foam and has held water in it nicely
outriggers and both crossmembers ,heater channel and a inner and outer nose section and that will make it a heap more solid
have got a tvpe 3 1500 gearbox for the lowering process and am sourcing some drop spindals for the front
will keep you all posted
Paul

i am having the same problems with my ute at the moment, soak in penetrating oil/lanolin etc and try with an impact screwdriver.. mine still doesn't want to move so i figured the hinges are goodi might just trie and repair the doors myself.. glad it's ratty ratty. good luck mate!

Any other ideas anyone.. i spose the next step may be buying new screws and drilling out the crusty ones carefully.

door screws

Post by pmgbus »

try a bit of heat, either oxy with a no6/ no8 tip and heat the centre of the screw or use a LPG hand blowtorch with a barbecue gas bottle, much cheaper and u dont pay bottle rental, handpiece is about $80. heat will get most things undone, otherwise, 9.5mm drillbit, drill head off screw and then tap lockplate( pain in the rear).
