This is the 1970's home made camper interior, was going to try and keep it but the mice and spiders meant that it had to go.

I love your bus! Such a shame the local wildlife has made it their home for a few decades

I thought I recognised the interior, and there is something similar in one of David Eccles books, made by an Adelaide VW dealership from 1958. Details are different but the general layout are the same. If your interior wasn't built by them, it could have been the inspiration. The way that wardrobe is halfway down the rear window makes me think homebuild as well though

The headliner is unusual. It is a Kombi, so would have originally left the factory with no headliner in the back, just the grey cards in the cab. Someone has put some effort into doing a good job somewhere down the line.

When we got our empty shell of a kombi, I was tempted to make a copy of one of the Adelaide interiors. In the end I got my hands on a '59 Devon to copy.

The interior was quite cool, but definately a home made thing. I tried to remove it in pieces so that if I wanted to copy it and replace it I could. However the way it was build meant that it was impossible to remove without destroying it. Rusted screws, odd bits of timber and lots of nails.
The headlining runs from above the cab divider to the rear, the roof over the seat has cards (or had) in it, they have perished so will need to be replaced.
Went to the Kombi Club Bus Stop in Swan Hill over Easter and have been inspired to really start the resto and get it done.
Now for the funds to do it all!

Ah, the funds....everyone's bugbear.

Way cool basis for a project.
And it is a pity about that camper interior but you'll find something else cool I'm sure if that's the road you want to go down.
Are you going a rat or a full restore custo?

Given the great condition of the body above the waist line, along with the great sh!tty paint on the roof, it will be ratty in the beginning. Have already applied Ankor Wax to the roof and polished the window surrounds.
Maybe drive that for a couple of years and then look at a repaint on the exterior. The Inside will be finished to a better standard.
The roof lining will be kept, if possible.
New cards and flooring for the interior and a R&R seat/bed for the rear.
Started on the sill under the cargo doors, have ordered new bits for the bottom 6 inches all round, a few outriggers and floor panels.
So now it all begins! More pics soon.
