cheers guys, your comments keep me motivated to climb under the rusty shitter! as for steel Al from Dasrestohaus is the man to see about some funky green (top bloke going out of his way to help me with a dogleg @ the moment), Bernie the spindle wizard sorts me out with autocraft panels (munstergarage). I make anything I can to save $$$ but it depends if I'm rich in TIME or rich in MONEY

Busy all day on the bus but, not much to show for it. I cut out the rusty section of the seat base that butts up to the front of the top hat. This ares creates a big water trap and is subsequently rusty, so I'm gonna redesign that bit a little.I also welded in some sections I made to fix the rusty areas behind the lower part of the bulkhead.
I'm jumping between a couple of jobs at the moment, one of them being the LH dogleg (tricky bastards, but I think i've got it sorted) I'll post up those pics once its all welded in.
I used some 2mm steel to replace the section I cut out. I changed the angle so it leaves a bigger gap for drainage from the compartment under the seat, so it no longer butts into the top hat. I noticed vw also moved away from that design on the later splits.
