So the lot is coming off and a Microbus deluxe look is going on. Here's a few random photos of inside....
Just so y'all patina lovers don't want to come and bash me, Dibsy did decide to strip the bus entirely before he came to see me

You made the right call Dibsy. A fresh start means it's your choice (well probably the good wife's choice) as to what the finished product will be. ORiginal is fine but it's not like there's no other dove blue 11 windows around. a blank canvas to get the creative juices flowing. Speaking from experience I can confirm she's in good hands.

Thanks everyone for your comments, At this stage i am looking at just getting the welding done and seatbelt mounts welded in so i have a safe & solid Bus. Looks like i will be spraying it myself for now and then later on i can get a professional to respray the outside to make it presentable.
Ged, The yellow has to go so we can see what rust is lurking, not too keen on a banana bus myself (Sorry Warby)
So .... picked up the engine today and chewed Jon's & Ian's ears off asking questions and gaining valuable information to help me in the rebuild. Also mananged to strip the bus down some more and learn a lot about how it all goes together. Hopefully get some more stripped down tomorrow ....
Well i have finally stripped off everything that i can get off, anything too stubborn has been left for Al & Steve to remove rather than me damaging too much. I couldn't remove the knuckles off the pitman joints / ball joints ? but have managed to loosen every bolt i could find to make things easier .....
I think i removed about ten kilo's of Mud Wasp nests from underneath !
Now just waiting for the call to take it to the welding / blasting
Well .... Al & the team have stripped the rest down for me and cut out the obvious rust, as well as pointed out rather a lot of previous damage. The bulkhead has been replaced at some point and there is some nasty damage to the drivers side rear top quarter. The rust was pretty bad and what appeared to be a solid chassis quickly disintegrated into a pile of poo ! so another grand in extra repair panels was needed......
And it is finally off to the blasters .....
Meanwhile i have been cleaning up the old front beam ready for having the spindles flipped and adjusters welded in .....
It looks like all my welding budget will be eaten up just getting the underneath sorted, i will then have to save up to get the front end done so it may all come to a grinding halt soon
What's the old saying with restos?
Calculate your estimate, double it and add 10%.
Don't worry, dibsy, it'll come out in the wash.
Few of us haven't had a hiccup somewhere in our builds.
There's a reason you called it the Yellow Peril.
I am running original beam with flipped spindles without any adjusters ( which will save you a few bucks in both time and parts) and I like both the height and ride. I also have all new bushes, centre pin, etc - handling is not the area to scrimp $ on.
Keep going. Good luck. The result will be worth the time and money.
