So finally bit the bullet and had a crack at getting the gearbox mount in tonight, its not been I job that I've been looking forward to. I happy to say that in the end it was a piece of piss.
I hooked up the 9 inch and got what was left of the old mount out, this is where I thought the torsion tube might move, It didn't.... happy times.
I bolted the box in and lined up the shift rod, then bolted up the rubber mount and centre section then slid the torsion bars in and fitted the spring plates with the rubber donuts, this held the section in place nicely
I then tacked it in place, pulled the box and bars back out and welded it all up. 2.5 hours.... to easy.

Re: Poor old ute
Its been a little while since I updated you guys on this one. (for some reason all the pics are gone... Can anyone help me out here??)
I haven't kept up to date with pics during to work but here's a few.
So all the rust is finished and I painted the under side with stone guard.
I then built myself a 4 inch beam
And chucked it in.
Then I got stuck in the the wiring loom, It needed a bit of work cause it had been shot up in a few places but after a few patches I was able to get a few lights working.
It then sat for 6 months or so up until boxing day. A few days off work and a bit of motivation and the rear suspension is in, I made up and fitted all the brake lines and started playing with the handbrake set up.
So the IRS is just tacked into place for now, I'm going to get it on a truck and into work so I can put it on the wheel aligner just to make sure all the angles are good then the motor and box can go in.
The specs so far are 4 inch ball joint beam, wagons west drop spindles, bay discs and booster up front.
Volksmuller IRS and bay drums in the rear.
I've got an L bug box and 1600 twin port to go in (for now)
Anyway now your'e all up to date
And once again if anyone can help me with recovering the rest of the pics give ma a yell.
Cheers

Re: Poor old ute
Yeah there is really starting to be a slight tang of cruise in the air.
I want to drive it back to Dalgety pub for a counter lunch just for a bit of a book end to the job. It started there with the recovery then a late lunch nearly 7 years ago now.... been a long one
I think i'll just have to just go through and repost all the pics, I've worked out it was my fault. By organizing all my photos into folders it has removed them from here.. lesson learned.
