Amazing stuff, ZP.
This will haul arse once you've finished and it doesn't seem far away to me.
I think you'll find yourself driving it alot and with that 2.5l motor I reckon it'll tow a modest sized caravan or car trailer.
My brother's EJ25 powered J&S Buggy which has now been sold had almost limitless power.
A Split panel would be barely 100kg more IMO because of all the strengthening he had to do to it.
It'll probably be kinder on the wallet than your aircooled motor in the 11-window too.

Re: 58 DD Panel
Got a set of these sent out to fix to the drive shafts so they will fit into the beetle box. All in and had a play with the gearing.
I am not getting all the gears really smooth and didn't have alot of time so will have to get into that another day.
Also have ordered a kit to sort that intake problem out that I had. Should arrive early next week.

Pulled my anchor wax out the other day, it's been in the shed for awhile, didn't expect it to rust through.

Re: 58 DD Panel
Ended up buying a kit to solve my issue with the intake, I couldn't simply flip the manifold then it was the alternator in the way. so have this.

We are in the very final stages of this resto. Made a few alterations to fit up the coil pack and the air cleaner.

Re: 58 DD Panel
Tell me, having gone through the whole process of fitting an EJ25 to a Splitty, would you do it again?
Would you recommend it to others?
I know it's not done yet but I'm wondering how you feel about it a year or so down the track.

Re: 58 DD Panel
Well it is hard to comment without having it on the road to experience how it goes etc.
There has been alot of times I have been frustrated with it all thinking if I had of just put a VW motor in it, it would of been on the road LONG ago.
It is a big job and alot of little things come up that I didn't plan for.
It is also quite expensive conversion when you take everything into account.
