Been doing a bit more paint removal and slowly, very slowly getting there.
Have to say the paint is very thin in places, in fact there are a lot of spots that are bare metal where it was rubbed right back years ago..
I have now removed all the glass, front bumper and irons, front badge and engine lid lock etc. Also removed the wood battens that were screw to the inside in the gutters for an old headliner..lovely job !
Yesterday I got home and the good lady wife tells me a box has arrived for me, I was not expecting anything so was wondering what it maybe.
I opened it up and found this...
Completely out of the blue, unexpected and very very welcome..
It came from a DSK member on here who sent them through to be used on the 54, I have never met the guy, only spoken on the phone several times and to say I'm a little gobsmacked is an understatement.
I am constantly amazed by the members of this forum, the knowledge, friendships and generosity, it's something I am so proud to be part of.
Seems like I'm forever saying thank you's but I really really mean it.
Thank you ALL

Re: The older sister.. March 54 BD 11 window.
Had a few hours today so pushed it out into the sun nice and early, warmed up the metal, covered myself in sunscreen and a big hat and then spent about 4.5 hours in the sun with oven cleaner and wire wool..Nice.
Results aren't to bad though...she'll buff real nice ha ha
Dash pod came up good with a bit of work..
Front bar was already started, about 3 layers to go..
Came up good, bit more to do but close
Then started on the roof, I usually leave the oven cleaner for about 5/7 mins...today about a minute and it was dry, it was fizzing where it was so hot...I was wearing a mask as well so I was steaming I hd already done a bit but wanted to see some Blue today
Now we're getting somewhere..
4 tins of easy off, a burnt neck, feeling like an old man today now...but all worth it I reckon.

Re: The older sister.. March 54 BD 11 window.
No beer for a few weeks now, busy saving my $$ for oven cleaner and 0000 wire wool..
Did about 8 hours over the weekend, hard graft in the sun, worth it though.
A few battle scars that will stay..
Feel like I'm getting somewhere with it now, it's taken a lot of hours to get to this, hard work in the sun as well but I think it's going to be ok once the bare patches have been blended, a lot of new metal grafted in etc.
Even my wife said today.." we are changing the wheels aren't we ? " normally she just shakes her head when she brings me a drink etc , bless her. She is coming round now she can see the blue I reckon ha ha .
