Project "65"

Post by surfncam »

Hey,
Started the latest project last week, surprised how little rust there is, advantage of getting it way way out west Qld. Would like to go a single colour this time, something close to original, but definatley not a "back to original" resto. We hit Byron markets Sunday and saw the red and white single as well as a light blue single, this was enough to get the juices flowing, maybe 2 years (told the wife) but hopefully 12 months. Would like to get in touch with some of the guys at Byron and pick their brains for ideas...Keep ya posted..

Ask away...My mate who bought my 66 11 window dropped in again today, starting to regret selling that bus...

Found a six pack of motivation in the back of the beer fridge last night so back into it. Finished stripping except for front beam then off to get blasted. Feels good.

Das,

Do you know how hard it is dropping your front beam with a vacuum cleaner in one hand?
I have literaly moved into the shed as the mother inlaw has moved in for 5 weeks to help out Trace (badly cut hand + 2 year old = trouble)so I'm spending some quality time with the bus.

Finally got the beam out and only a bit more bad metal to remove then off to the blasters. Found some bog in the nose hiding a couple of dents as well.

Rotisseri finished tomorrow, BIG THANKS to "slow n low" for posting that file, save me alot of time. Made a few modifications so bus could be transported on it, fully adjustable and broken down for storage. Great price for a top welder/engineer and done in a week. Just got to organise blaster now.
Cam.
