I think they started to fit gauges and drop the reserve tap in 62. What tail light setup do you have? Double round lights were not on 62-they went to the "oval" shape that continued through to round 71-72. wouldnt be hard to reference the chassis no. great bus!
My guess is June '61 off the Samba site. Does it have the twin tailights? Mine's March '61 with the twins.
Just saw nick62's post must of missed it, sorry bud didn't mean to ignore ya man. No it doesn't have a fuel gauge but does have a reserve fuel tap. Roo its had the tailight sections cut out, but I believe its suppose to have the twins. but Im pretty sure its 61. cheers for the good words guys, I'll try to get the pics coming.
Finally got the guts to tackle my passenger dogleg. It's been a while since my last post I spose I lost confidence for a while. I'm still pluggin away at it hopefully get some more done over the weekend. I did have the old dogleg completely removed but then decided to re-fit the middle section as it was rust free, gave me some good reference points and held the wheel arch shape better.
I don't think I'd do it like that again, the outer skin is a pretty good match but the inner is a little different and matching it to the original is a bitch, so probably better off using the whole thing.
You can see where I fucked up an cut the outer too short so I had to join it back up an have another crack. (sorry pics are a bit shit quality. I might have to fire up the digital camera again)
Thanks guys, I'm jumping around the bus a bit but I got the RH front outrigger in an primed as well.
P.S anyone know what those cocks at photobucket have done with regards to getting links for multiple photos in one hit? the new website layout sux. I use to be able to go along my album an tick multiple photos the generate all the links and copy n paste em in one hit. now I have to do one pic at a time and jump back an forth between the websites.
Cheers guys I'll try to keep the pics coming. I made up the little section that retains the door seal with a bit of left over dogleg. Then i moved on to welding in the LH floor section in. I've had this schofields panel kickin around the shed for years so I just wanted to use it up, quality is questionable but with some tweaking and extending one side of it I got a decent fit. I'm not to worried about grinding back my welds at this stage just wanna get the bulk of the welding done.
