Hey folks, just getting started and have seen DSKers around the shows, etc. Just inherited an original unmolestered German Made 59 Splittie van and am geting a plan together for it. Plan is to leave the original patina and do the drive chain with some lowering involved. Ealy questions are 6 or 12 v? Are heater pipes fibreglass or something more sinister? Where can I get bumpers reshaped in Vic? What do I treat the original paint with? So many questions but that will do for now.
Look forward to some advice.

I can tell you that earlys used glass wool for insulation of their heater pipes, not abspestos fibre. Still, the stuff floats for hours and imagine that your lungs aren't going to thank you for sucking any excess. Wrap em up until you are ready to do something with them.
It's likely that your bus is 6 volt. Take a quick look at the voltage rating on the back of a bulb and it should give you the answers whether it has been updated to 12 V.
Back bar is nicely done if the bend is smack-bang symmetrical. Radical custom dude !'
