Fatlady , Time to come clean Pic Heavy
As most know I have been working on this bus for many years, with some success. But after christmas and a change in circumstance meant that a space on the boat to Tasmania was booked for the 23rd of March, so every spare minute was spent throwing the bus together. 21st march 1st trip around block, all good some small items to attend to, done. 22nd another trip around the block, all good. Load up and Sunday morning off to Port melbourne to meet the boat. Its at this point you realise in the 7 years I have had the bus it had travelled 150 miles and propably very few in the previous 20 years. Fingers crossed of we go, new brakes feel good, reduction hubs whining , must be good. Fill up with fuel at Kilsyth and continue. Arrive at the boat at 4.00 and wait. 6.00pm load drive into the bowels of the beast and we are now at the point of no return.
12 hours later we are in Devonport with 19 days to go. Where to go well just head right along the coast, now I am not going to bore with all the holiday details just various pics, if you need more details just ask.
Know day 2 main street of Penguin I am accosted by a lady who owns "Rhonda" a 1974 Baywindow camper, she asks am I here for the Kombi show at Turners beach Berry Farm the next Saturday, well with no plans I organise to go to the Kombi show. Turns out it is a big low key affair about 35 Veedubs but mainly kombis.
The rest of the time we travelled looked around and were just travellers.
Did see some splits along the way.
Lots of scenery
Some apple juice as required.
Plenty of driving.
Found some dirt roads.
Yep 20 days, 1850kms, no breakdowns, 2 days rain, 1 day of cloud, what a great place only scratched the surface, will go back next year. Very suitable for reduction hubs as they do drive slower except on the main highway from Devonport to Hobart but you just travel on other roads. People loved the bus had an average of 3 people a day asked about it, took pics, wanted to talk etc
only today was i caught out when Tombi spotted me coming home from the boat I thought I had managed to do it all unseen.

You didn't get away Scott free!! This Scott already knew. A mate drove down from north qld and ran into you at the little car show. Was shocked to see his pics of it out and about when he stopped in here on his way home

Your bus is playing with my eyes. Nice to see it resurrected. Do you have any pics of the interior? I would be curious to see how much extra space it gives you, being 6ft5 myself.
Thanks
Steve

Re: Fatlady , Time to come clean Pic Heavy
Well guys thanks for the great comments.
Yes time to enjoy, but there is still a lot to do, but now i can do them as small projects and keep the bus running. Will take to Day of the VW when it is next on and a few weekends away will be nice.
Steve over the weekend I will get some current interior shots, you would still have to duck but only just.
