Long side on.
Perimter welded and sikaflexed through the internals. The steel on the outside is tacked in place to keep in line while the sika dries.

Brad, please share. I need replacement springs for the backrest part of my middle seat.

I used the 4 or 5 inch springs.
The half metre lengths of spring steel are great too for the edge banding is a bit slack.

Re: Evie Bus - 1966 Aussie Standard
So as of yesterday (or by COB today anyway) I am now the proud owner of a 1966 VW bus that has absolutely no rust in it at all (I think )
Front Drivers Dogleg was the finishing point of the hard metal works.
Now it is onto finishing off my seat belt anchors and baby anchors throughout the back.
And I have decided to run all 6 rear windows as pop outs so that will be a bit extra metal work too.
The other milestone that is happening at the moment is Mike from Performance Upholstery is doing the new work on my seats.
I dropped on my Rock and Roll to him yesterday to find the front seats 95% complete. I am very glad having sat on them that I chose to spend a bit extra on the coconut pads for these two.
Very comfy.
Anita was in charge of the vinyl selections. My brief was to choose something that was available at the time and was sympathetic to the VW heritage.
She ended up selection TMI Silver Beige which is a 66 Deluxe Vinyl that is used in the door cards.
The little twist we decided upon was to run it as the main seat material to break the bus up a little bit.

Full set of seats returned last night. Got the tick of approval from the family.
Very happy with my dealing with Mike at Performance Upholstery. I consider the price and process to be well worth it. Would happily recommend him to others.

Brad, those seats look fantastic! The squeaky clean dogleg looks great too, you must be stoked.
I reckon you'll be most pleased having the six pop outs installed. On a sunny day, it's awesome to open them all.....

Re: Evie Bus - 1966 Aussie Standard
Went and checked the bus out on the weekend with the family.
All looking good in its new much larger premises.
It originally started with the brief of being a rust free driver.
Whilst I wanted to have a pretty straight bus I was not fussed if it was not perfect.
Brad does not seem to work that way however.
It is starting to look very straight. He is doing a full body skim (roof included) and then using nice long blocks to file it back.

Not yet. I am totally sold on velvet green. But still need to get the white right. The pearl white I have does not look like the busses I have seen. So still working on that.

Thanks Ian, What a lovely offer. I will even give you a carton for it mate
Seriously though, I just looked at your 'Taking a look outside today' Thread.
The blue white does look like the white I keep seeing.
The Confusing thing is 4Reels new bus looks a lot whiter than my sample too.

I might have to try mine with some hardener to see if that affects it as my sample is 2pac brushed on with no hardener.

Getting there. Most the bus is into Poly Hi build now. Should be painted in the not to distant future.
Rims were dropped off today to get blasted and powdercoated.
I was going for the RAL 9002 code. Which based on the Samba info is a near perfect match for the OG paint. The powder coater had off white in their ranges that was extremely close to that so I am running with that and will colour match paint for the bumpers.
