Finally loaded in Minnesota at the PO's place and now on its way to SoCal and my shipper's depot..... this is always the most stressful part
Should be loaded in a container next week and on its way to Oz. Can't friggin' wait.....

Unfortunately, there's been a delay shipping my ute at the California end
They tell me it's being loaded Monday
So, hopefully just in time for Old Bar, if I'm lucky
Here's a photo at the Californian depot of my shipper with one of the workers getting a photo of himself behind the wheel. Soon, that will be my dial behind the wheel!

It looks more beige in all these photos for some reason but it is actually factory grey as Klaus said -
Proper name is Light Grey (Licht Grau); paint code L345.

Re: Awesome KCW restored '59 ute is now mine!
Well, it's arrived, cleared customs and now parked out the front of my place. I got up at 5am to catch the train to Newcastle, pick it up and drive it home..... It isn't blue slipped yet, no NSW plates but with a UVP (unregistered vehicle permit) from the RTA, it's legal to drive unregistered. You can drive without the UVP if you're going straight to a blue slip garage or RTA, etc, but it isn't insured. The UVP only costs $30 and includes ctp insurance for the specified period - bargain!
I had already organised comprehensive insurance with Shannon's but since the SC literally just rolled off the ship, I was a little worried I might break down on the 3 hour journey home. But it was all good, except for stalling everytime I put my foot on the clutch to brake and stop at lights. Got plenty of looks from the holiday traffic punters, I think as much for the fact I had no number plates as for the fact it's a cool old Splitty......
The cops left me alone as well; I had thought I'd be pulled over heaps because of no plates, in which case id whip out my UVP until I was pulled over again..... But even though I passed 4 highway patrol cars they didn't bat an eyelid.
On Tuesday she gets blue slipped and then it's off to the RTA to grab my stored plates - 59 YOOT - and I'm all legal, registered and driving. Shame it wasn't done earlier so I could have whipped up to Old Bar. Anyway, here's a few pics taken just after getting home.

Nice trip home. Hey can I ask, did you get a pink slip for the UVP? I thought you had to get a pink slip done before they would issue a permit?
Thanks
Steve

No, didn't need a pink slip but along with the form applying for the UVP, you have to fill in another form, "Vehicle suitable for safe use declaration"
http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/abo ... ration.pdf
I had printed these 2 forms off the RTA website and took them in to my local RTA; 5 minutes later I walked out with the UVP and CTP for 5 days (you can get the UVP for up to 28 days).
