Bought half done build on 67 11 window
Bought this 67 11 window back in april 2014 this is the second split i have done the first was a 67 pannel.
Lots of welding has been done payed top dollar for it but i hope that means a shorter build than the last one (6 yeARS)
most of the repairs to the body are complete. I wasnt happy with an old repair to rear corner so removed whole corner to sort
now thinking to get the 15 window pannels if anyone has..

My guess is that brake setup is a John Sherman kit (http://www.volksconversions.com.au/brakes.html)sunshine64 wrote:PLEASE can anyone tell me what brake set up is this ?

Your best speaking with John about getting it engineered. He claims they are not regarded as adapters but I am not aware of anyone running them who has put them through an engineer.
Cheers
Steve

Might be a bit hard to make a 15 window, yours has the wide rear hatch

Best you could hope for is a 13 window , 15 s finnished in 1963 , with a wide rear hatch you'd have to cut the bus in half

Plenty of John's disks have been pasted there's no issue with the front splity disks kits getting approval in vic anyway.

Nothing wrong with 11 windows, keep it as it rolled off the factory floor, worth more in the long run instead of a hack job

Ready to do a test fit of type 4 engine also about to fit a bay engine hatch .
minimum height for type 4 engine the same?
heard you also need a pilot bush for gear box , anything else,
Not going to do upright conversion I prefer to mod the body to suit have plenty of spares as i have a bay window wrecking..

Re: Bought half done build on 67 11 window
hey thanks for the responce.
i Have been reading through gfresh members ride profile lots of great work there a some good tips..
i put a t3 engine hatch in my 67 pannel which is unreal for access thankfully have not had to use it much and its my daily driver
Im now fitting a bay window engine hatch want to keep it neat is a lots of measuring before cutting.
going to use some of the support section to the hatch frame so i can utillise the bay fuel tank fire wall also.
thinking what else will i need to think about at this point do i need to raise the skin height above type 4 engine.
I noticed the input shaft from 2ltr box is 10mm longer than the beetle box
tips on clutch and flywheel set up appreciated ..
tips in general are good.

Re: Bought half done build on 67 11 window
you will need to run a conversion flywheel or use an 1800 215mm one and yes you need a spigot bush fitted to flywheel , any engineer shop can do it (bearing can be bought from bearing supplier cheaply $11 last time ). type 4 's are a lot heavier in standard form so you may want to add extra support or get used to changing nose cone and cradle rubber mounts , I had upright kit and made custom exhaust they sit a little lower but great conversion as you can take them out to 3l if you have the $$
Straight axle is better than IRS

Hi . long time no post.
bay hatch welded in and make a hatch to access fuel sender unit.with stainless cover
Oh and as a dad had to put in child anchor points across the back.
Also tacked seat belt point on and repaired edges of rear inner skin.
