I thought this morning I should take a photo of the money pit that is the engine. Really it is not too bad.
But I have had cooling issues. I am hoping that the engine being dropped today and a close look at the thermo flaps in the tin ware will sort that out. (thanks Custom Vee Dub for all the dedicated spanner work you are doing for me).

Anyways, I believe the engine to be a 1776 but at worst it is a 1600DP.
I have just upgraded to dual 40mm Kadrons with curtesy of Rod Penrose along with his special billet linkage that seems to be a good option for the money.
Also got a Petronix Flamethrower II Dizzy and Coil cheap that I swapped the old mechanical 009 for.
And I upgraded to an alternator to avoid the old Genny jamming on my at a poor time and also feed some power to my new dual battery system.

I am still running the mechanical fuel pump (a new one anyway to fit next to the alternator) and a crappy old exhaust system.

I am still running bug out of the engine and setting up the Kadrons. There is a little flatspot when planting the foot from low revs that may be able to be fixed with a SVDA Vac Advance dizzy. But it is minimal and certainly liveable at this stage.

Starting to look pretty clean in there with the old oil filter bath removed.

Fitted my kick panel and rear speaker yesterday (I don't have a stereo yet but it is better than a hole).



Gives this lovely usable storage area so I can carry more spare parts! (and maybe my fishing rod and some other stuff.

This landed on my desk today. Thanks to Boris at Vintage Vee Dub. I only paid for it yesterday afternoon. Not a bad turn around. I wouldn't have been able to do the drive that quick.


Also installed my new Hemco Silver Web retractable belts throughout. I don't have photos of the front but this is what I did for the reel and mattress area. Hides them nicely.

I have not found the exhaust note much different. Maybe a tiny bit lower not.
But the availability of power is certainly noticible. Not sure if you gain power. That would be a dyno question and I would not think much.
But the engine feels like it breathes much nicer and it allows quicker access to power.

I don't think I would pull a stock exhaust off to fit it. But if you stock exhaust needed upgrade anyway the extra money over stock replacement is justifiable.

Hard to say Mike. White traffic in brissy. During peak hour didn't get over 70 degree. Got to 100km/hr but cool outside temp and lower time. Hope.to take a drive to the gold coast this weekend to check.
