Re: Darwin '67 11 Window Resto Project
Well, another major milestone achieved with the roof going on. I had to cut out an extra section to deal with the rust under the cross piece for the roof. Pretty happy with the way it turned out really there is a slight dip where it joins but only a mm or so and nothing a skim of filler wont fix.
Job done with a mixture of 3M panel bond and welding. I don't think its going to go anywhere in a big hurry.
Feels bloody good to get it done!
Next I need to spread the rear chassis rails by a mm or two as the rear valence isn't quite lining up and do a couple of rust repairs to the rear tailgate.
I'm also going to build a jig to roll it over and get the hard to get to parts underneath.

Re: Darwin '67 11 Window Resto Project
Thanks guys. I've been visualising driving this for quite some time!
Lost track of hours but I think close to 400 now
Gaz are you back in town?
I'm having a big debate with myself about colour…..'67 colours suck as far as I'm concerned. Its was originally Zenith blue but I'm not a fan. Thinking about Lotus White (67) Dove (Pidgeon) Blue, Mango or Turkis. Whatever the colour it will be solid not two tone and original VW.

Don't worry about the hours - there is only shit on TV so you haven't missed much!Cam Arnott wrote:Lost track of hours but I think close to 400 now

Colour is always the hardest part of any resto I reckon, but agree to go VW and year correct if possible. Are there any different colours for Germa built buses in '67?
No matter what happens they can't take you out in the street and shoot you......

Not sure Morts, I might have to do some research.
I do like this combo, wish I knew exactly what colour it was…..Not original 356.

Re: Darwin '67 11 Window Resto Project
Wheeled the old girl outside for the first time in about 2 years yesterday to blow all the accumulated crap out....had a visit from a younger brother!
Starting to build the frame to tip it over so I can tidy up underneath.
Leaning heavily towards Mango Green all over with Seagull grey bumpers for contrast. I love Dove / Pigeon Blue but there's already plenty of those around....
