Very nice that Cooper came around to day and we went through the parts I need. Actually was good speaking to him, it doesn't seem quite so daunting, bit like the Senator, slow and steady wins the race!!

Great to get a good look at the 60 panel Cooper has recently got on the road too, very cool

BIG day today, Today is BIG!! All the panels from Germany are due to be delivered, woo hoo!! So have moved the MG across to my other shed and cleared out the Senator. And got it up on the lift and gave it a good blow down and inspection. Looks sweet as.

One thing Dad taught me was the importance of a jig in a job like this. In my case I took a lot of time to make the frame I made to move it around dead square and level. It also picks up on the suspension points making sure they are dead plumb. Whilst waiting for the panels that are coming today I thought I would check it since I haven't touched it in a couple of years. Its absolutely spot on, dead true and level. Happy days :yahoo:

So not sure if i should ask this in a separate thread. But looks like using panel adhesive on the floor panels is maybe a good way to go, thoughts on anyone who has done it or is against it?

I’m against it but I’m 100% amateur so don’t take my word for it. I’d use panel adhesive for side panels to avoid warping for sure but the floor is easy to weld, won’t warp AND adds structural rigidity to the chassis to the body so I personally would weld. I don’t even like when I see people opt for zig zag plug welds rather than doing the proper 2 welds per rib. Again I have 0 professional experience, I just think the floor is so important structurally why risk it?

Looks like welding it is! Thanks all. Can anyone suggest someone's build thread that goes through rebuilding the cargo floor area including the I beams, top hats and front section where the cargo doors close? Just like to read up a bit as a refresher before getting stuck in. Thanks again all.

I used panel bond and welding edges - particularly long side panel in particular kept it nice and straight.

There are some good utube video from 3m showing tests where bond is as strong as welding in accident as long as you weld critical points

Also good for the edges that tend to move a bit like windscreen to nose join roof gutters
